Unser Besuch in diesem Restaurant war leider eine große Enttäuschung, obwohl es uns von früher bekannt war und wir daher mit einer gewissen Erwartungshaltung dorthin gingen. Ambiente: Der Tisch, an dem wir platziert wurden, war sehr eng in einer Ecke des Restaurants gestellt. Die enge Platzierung machte das Ambiente ungemütlich, und dazu saßen wir direkt vor einer dunkelgrünen Wand, was das Raumgefühl zusätzlich drückte. Der Raum war zudem ziemlich laut, was die Atmosphäre noch unangenehmer machte. Außerdem war die Luft schlecht, was den Gesamteindruck zusätzlich negativ beeinflusste. In Kombination mit der schummrigen Beleuchtung entstand keine einladende Atmosphäre – im Gegenteil, es fühlte sich eher stickig und ungemütlich an. Essen: Die größte Enttäuschung war jedoch die Qualität des Essens. Alle Gerichte wurden nur lauwarm serviert, was den Genuss erheblich beeinträchtigte. Besonders bei frisch zubereiteten Gerichten erwartet man, dass diese heiß und frisch serviert werden. Leider war das hier nicht der Fall. Der Geschmack war grundsätzlich in Ordnung, aber die lauwarme Temperatur trübte das gesamte Erlebnis. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis: Für den Preis, den wir gezahlt haben, hatten wir deutlich mehr erwartet. Die Qualität und Präsentation der Speisen entsprachen nicht dem, was man für das Preisniveau erwarten kann. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war in unseren Augen daher leider sehr schlecht. Fazit: Unser Besuch war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Wir kannten das Restaurant früher als einen Ort, an dem man gutes Essen in angenehmem Ambiente genießen konnte – leider war das diesmal nicht der Fall. Die hohe Erwartungshaltung, die wir aufgrund unserer früheren Erfahrungen hatten, wurde in allen Bereichen nicht erfüllt – vom Ambiente über die Qualität des Essens bis hin zum Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Wir hoffen, dass das Restaurant an den genannten Punkten arbeitet und in Zukunft eine bessere Erfahrung bieten kann.

Service war wie immer einfach perfekt und das Ambiente ist so oder so einmalig. Wir sind sehr gerne dort :)

Really amazing experience! Food elegant and delicious and some really great wine at a good price.

We made reservations 8 months in advance and noting we were coming back because we got engaged there 2 years ago. No mention of that, food was lukewarm, came out very quickly like it was pre-prepared. It felt very processed. Would not recommend, especially for the special evening we were hoping for.

We had the most delicious dinner but experience was made unbelievably special by our server, Gertrude, and sommelier Zhouleh. They made our night so special and will remember it always

We loved our lunch here! I had eaten there on a trip 11 years ago and was thrilled to come back and be able to see the lovely Christmas decorations. The food and service were excellent! If I ever come back to Salzburg, I will eat there again.

The place is a wonder to see. It's supposed to be the oldest running restaurant in Europe. However, the food was just good, not great. The steak tartar was pretty flavorless and we had to add a lot of salt and pepper to finish it. The beef broth soup was good but nothing special. The highlight was the artic chat on whipped leeks. It was quite good with the salmon roe but I would have preferred it grilled rather than poached. Overall, it was still a pretty good experience but very pricey.

The venue is beautiful. My husband got a vension main and he loved it, I got the snitzel and it was average. We shared the Salzburger Nockerln, it was huge but so delicious.

I write this with a heavy heart. The place was beautifully decorated and food was decent. I would have given this place 5/5 had it not been the way we were treated by one of the waiters while dining at lunch time. First incident: My husband ordered roast beef from the menu and I clearly heard the waiter (I believe he speaks Italian too) repeating “roast beef” while ordering. However, when the food arrived, he was served with the schnitzel instead. When my husband politely told him it was the wrong order, the waiter did not want to acknowledge the mistake and insisted he ordered the schnitzel. My husband decided to let it go and we chose to enjoy our meal instead. Second incident: I would have happily let the first incident go but the second was unacceptable for an establishment that prides in its history. We were at the end of our meal when we thought of ordering dessert. After looking at the menu, my husband briefly raised his hand (it was a gentle raise of hand) to let the same waiter know we would like to order and I don’t know if he felt offended by it he suddenly raised his voice and shouted at him across the room. If he felt it was inappropriate due to misinterpretation he could have said it graciously but he made a comment along the lines of “you are not the only customer, this is not like ordering at McDonald’s”, leaving us embarrassed in a room full of other customers. His comment was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. We did not want to cause a scene so we kept quiet and continued on with ordering our dessert.The whole room suddenly felt awkward and quiet as well when it happened, and I believe a couple beside us who just started to sit down to order drinks was taken aback (I could see their faces) by the incident and left abruptly without ordering any food. We wanted to settle the bill and leave at that very moment but we stayed till the end of our desserts because we did not want one incident to ruin our entire perception of our time at Salzburg. I hope the restaurant will reflect on this incident to ensure both your local and international customers are treated with respect.

Amazing and wonderful experience. This very historic restaurant is beautiful and was a special place to spend our last night in Salzburg. Cannot say enough about how wonderful our waiter was, and the support staff as well. As for the food, we would be returning tomorrow if we could. My schnitzel was the best of any I had during our 8 days in Austria, and one of the very best of my life. Pounded super thin, and coated in a light airy crust, it is one to compare all future schnitzels to. The accompanying boiled potatoes were delicious, and my salad appetizer was a work of art. Highly recommend the sesame dressing as an option. My husband loved both his beef soup and his duck confit and decided we must try the special dessert of Salzburg - the Nockerl. Unique and light and airy, take a rest from your dinner while it is prepared, and then enjoy this special dessert. Very, very highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

The food was average at best. However, it was the service that made the experience less than desirable. We were seated and handed our menus and waited 15 minutes before anyone came to us to ask our drink orders. We received the drinks quickly but the food took a very long time. Also the mandatory bread service which is charged is obnoxious. The venue is well decorated for the holiday, but that did not make up for its other sort comings.
